A survey on your Shopify thank-you page, live in five minutes
The buyer has just paid, remembers every step, and has nothing else to do. Poby asks them how the shopping experience felt — by journey stage — and turns the answers into a list of things to fix.
Why the thank-you page beats an email three days later
The memory is intact
They just walked the whole path and can still name the step that annoyed them. Days later you get a vague impression instead.
The goodwill is peak
Someone who has just chosen to pay you is as cooperative as they will ever be. No inbox to compete with, no incentive required.
The order is already attached
No “please enter your order number”, no reconciling a spreadsheet. Every answer arrives knowing which purchase it belongs to.
Nothing left to abandon
The sale is final before the widget appears. A survey here cannot cost you the order — which is not true of anything earlier in the funnel.
What the survey asks
Three questions, about ten seconds. Poby is opinionated about staying short — it will nudge you if you switch on too many rating dimensions at once, because long surveys at this moment simply get closed.
Star ratings by stage
Overall, finding what I wanted, checkout & payment — 1–5 stars each. One glance, not three questions. Premium adds browsing, navigation, filtering, add-to-cart, login and account creation.
“What went wrong?” tags
Shown only on low ratings. Shipping cost, confusing options, too many steps, payment error, slow to load — one tap turns a bad score into a countable, fixable reason.
“How did you hear about us?”
Optional. The question your attribution tooling is worst at: word of mouth, a podcast, a friend’s screenshot. None of it carries a UTM. The buyer knows.
An optional comment
A free-text box for whatever the stars did not capture. Unlabelled and unpressured, so the people with something to say can say it.
Setting it up
Install Poby
From the Shopify App Store. Approve the permission screen — Poby reads orders and customers so it can attach a name and email to each response, and nothing else.
Drop the block on the Thank you page
Settings → Checkout → Customize, open the Thank you page, add the Poby block where you want it, save. The order-status page is included by default.
Pick your questions
Choose which journey stages get rated, set your low-rating reasons, toggle the attribution question and the thank-you discount. Defaults are sensible, so this step is optional.
Read the answers
Responses land in your dashboard inside Shopify admin: trends, rating distribution, most-tapped issues, and each individual response with contact details for follow-up.

Questions people ask first
Can I add a survey to the Shopify thank-you page?
Yes. Shopify lets apps add blocks to the Thank you and Order status pages through the checkout editor. Poby ships such a block: install the app, open Settings → Checkout → Customize, drop the Poby block onto the Thank you page and save. No theme code and no developer are involved.
Will a thank-you page survey slow down my checkout?
It should not, and Poby is built so it cannot. The widget appears after the order is complete, renders from configuration synced ahead of time rather than fetched while the page loads, and adds no blocking calls. If anything goes wrong it renders nothing rather than showing a broken block.
What should a post-purchase survey ask?
Keep it to about three questions that map to something you can change: a star rating for each journey stage you control, a one-tap "what went wrong?" prompt that only appears on low scores, and optionally "how did you hear about us?". Long forms at this moment get abandoned.
Is this the same as a product review app?
No. Review apps collect public star reviews of the item, usually by email after delivery, to display as social proof on product pages. A thank-you page survey measures the shopping experience — search, checkout, delivery promise — and stays private to you as operational feedback.
Does the survey work on the order-status page too?
In Poby, yes. The same block runs on the customer-account order-status page, so buyers who come back to track their order can still leave feedback. You can switch that surface off in Settings.
How much does it cost?
Poby's free plan is free forever and includes the widget on both surfaces, overall/search/checkout ratings, low-rating tags, the attribution question and the analytics dashboard. Premium is $5.49/month with a 14-day free trial and adds six further rating dimensions, return-experience feedback, per-dimension analytics and CSV export.
