A free Shopify survey app that stays free
Not a trial, not a stripped-back preview. Poby's free plan runs the whole post-purchase survey — widget, ratings, reason tags, attribution and dashboard — for $0, indefinitely.
Everything the free plan includes
- The feedback widget on your thank-you page and your order-status page
- Overall, Search and Checkout star ratings (1–5)
- “What went wrong?” tags on low ratings
- “How did you hear about us?” attribution question
- Optional written comments from shoppers
- Thank-you discount rewards for leaving feedback
- The analytics dashboard: trends, rating distribution, top issues, sources
- Individual responses with the customer’s name and email for follow-up
- CSV export of your responses
Premium, if and when you want it — 14-day free trial, cancel from your Shopify admin.
- Six further rating dimensions: browsing, navigation, filtering, add-to-cart, login, account creation
- Return-experience feedback
- Per-dimension analytics and trends
What “free” does not mean here
Free plans usually come with a bill somewhere. These are the ones Poby does not send:
Your data is not the payment
Feedback data is never sold and never used for advertising. Customer names and emails are read only so you can follow up, are excluded from CSV export, and every staff access to them is written to an audit log.
It is not a trial
Nothing expires and nothing switches off after a month. The free plan is a plan, not a countdown to a paywall.
No card to install
Installing the free plan involves no billing approval at all. A charge can only appear after you choose Premium and approve it in your own Shopify admin.
The real limit: depth
Free rates three stages. If you need to know that account creation inside checkout is the problem rather than “checkout”, that is what Premium's six extra dimensions and per-dimension analytics are for.
Versus the other free options
Free survey tooling exists — it is just usually not built for this moment. The trade-off is nearly always distribution.
A free form builder
Will ask anything you like, then hand you a link. You still have to get that link in front of the buyer and stitch answers back to orders yourself. The form is free; the distribution is the work.
A free behavioural analytics tool
Session recordings and heatmaps show you where people hesitated — genuinely useful, and complementary. They cannot tell you it was the shipping cost. Run both.
Poby's free plan
Asks at the one moment the buyer is still there and still willing, with the order already attached. That timing is the whole product — and it is the part that is free.

Free plan questions
Is Poby’s free plan a trial?
No. The free plan is free forever — nothing expires and no feature switches off after a month. Premium is a separate paid plan you can start whenever the extra rating dimensions become useful — and it has its own free trial on top.
What is the catch with a free Shopify survey app?
The usual catch is that your data pays the bill. With Poby it does not: feedback data is never sold and never used for advertising, and the customer names and emails attached to responses are excluded from CSV export and audit-logged on every access. The genuine limit is scope — the free plan rates three journey stages rather than nine, and skips per-dimension analytics.
Do I need to enter card details to install?
No. Installing the free plan involves no billing approval at all. Charges only ever appear if you choose to upgrade to Premium, and Shopify shows you the charge for approval in your own admin first.
What happens to my data if I stay free forever?
Nothing different. Feedback records are retained while Poby is installed on your store, and are deleted when you uninstall, via Shopify’s shop-redaction webhook — the same on both plans.
